Welcome back. In your business news, future AI solutions by Google could be developed in Singapore. The internet giant has opened a new engineering center and hired more than 85 specialists to turn research into AI solutions for its global customers. The country's digital development and information ministry says the center will help build capabilities to ultimately deepen the business ecosystem. When companies anchor substantive engineering and product development work in Singapore, the benefit goes beyond the number of jobs created. The deeper benefit is that expert expertise compounds here. A young engineer gets to work on difficult problems over time. They develop deeper technical judgment. They lead larger projects. They mentor others. Perhaps they build the next product or the next company.

The center is colllocated with Google Deep Minds Research Lab in Singapore. With the lab findings, the center will help build frontier model solutions and agentic platforms for Singapore businesses [music] that are growing global. Today, Google is already involved with local enterprises such as building financial agents for DBS and predicting the weather for Grabs food delivery riders. >> When it comes to our region, there are many unique needs that we can think of. Now further when you think about floods or you even think around capabilities like how do you actually enable humanto human connections all of those things are now um much easier and much more uh relatable to what we do from a technology point of view because we've combined engineering AI models and the customer in one short circuit.

>> Google Cloud also says it will continue to focus on security even as it evolves its AI model training. The Gemini provider says it has already started learning and mitigating AI safety risks. This comes after prominent AI executives including Google DeepMind chief Demis Hassabis warned of potential dangers that the technology poses to humanity. >> When you look at any of our models, we have about 25,000 humans that verify content and so on. We have a policy to not ship a model without it actually passing anti-malicious patterns. So safety and responsibility for us was from there from the beginning especially in the context of the fact that we use AI to deliver services through Gmail, maps, YouTube etc. We have to take this very very seriously.
