# New SG AI Xchange platform helps firms share lessons on adopting and scaling AI

Nearly 100 dedicated in-house AI teams have been set up by companies in Singapore since 2024. Known as AI centers of excellence, they develop customized solutions, create high-value jobs, and deepen AI expertise. A new platform called SG AI Exchange is bringing companies together to share what they've learned about adopting AI, as Beatrice Yeo reports. >> At GlobalFoundries, there are more than 60 AI-powered solutions and counting. The semiconductor maker is putting their technology to work across its manufacturing operations. The company says this has boosted labor productivity by 40% and sped up the introduction of new products by 30%, driving these efforts is its AI center of excellence in Singapore. Set up in 2024, the hub develops and scales digital manufacturing solutions.

Its successful innovations have been replicated at its facilities in the US and Germany. >> The Singapore factory is the most complex. We run the most combined technologies with more than 200 customers running concurrently in the same factory. So, if we can prove it is robust enough, the chances of success when you move it over to other locations, it will be very easy. >> But the impact of these centers is meant to extend beyond the companies that set them up. The Economic Development Board says the aim is to build up Singapore's wider AI ecosystem, connecting global players with local companies, talent, and researchers. >> What matters here is not just the number of AI COEs, but the opportunities they create for Singaporeans.

These centers create high-value roles in areas such as AI engineering, data science, and AI governance, and give our workforce opportunities to build new skills for the future. >> GlobalFoundries is the first company to share its experience at the inaugural SGAI Exchange. The platform lets businesses exchange lessons on adopting and scaling AI, so others don't have to work everything out from scratch. This helps them move from experimenting with AI to putting it to work in their own operations. >> So, keep investing in your AI capabilities here. Keep putting what you learn into practice. We want Singapore to be a place where our companies can build safely, deploy safely, and scale AI safely with all of our strong partners and our talents behind them.
