Detail
The Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects, announced by the Executive Yuan in July 2025, are Taiwan's largest-ever public AI commitment — NT$1.5 trillion over 2025-2040, targeting NT$15 trillion in output and 500 000 trained AI practitioners. Three domains: smart applications, core technologies, infrastructure. Three core technologies: silicon photonics, quantum, AI robotics. Concrete projects: Liuying smart robotics park, Shalun research centre, Liujia innovation hub, expanded AI compute centres. Assessment: this is the inflection point where "AI policy" upgrades from "small-budget action plans" to "national long-term programme". But NT$1.5 trillion over 15 years (~NT$100bn/year) requires multi-administration continuity — President Lai's term ends 2028, and continuity past 2029 is a political variable.
