The local startup pool skews toward hardware / IC; pure AI software entrepreneurship was modest over the past five years but has picked up in 2024-25 under the Ten Major plan tailwind. Representative names: iKala (marketing AI), Cubo AI (family-safety AI cameras), Appier (marketing AI). Assessment: compared with Singapore's "hub + cross-border capital" model, Taiwan's startup ecosystem is more closed and international capital has higher entry barriers; but local manufacturing + software combos (e.g. AI robotics) offer a distinct edge.
