Training providers are reporting a sharp rise in demand for artificial intelligence courses with some seeing enrollments double in recent months. The surge is driven by growing interest in generative and emerging agentic AI across industries and among individual learners. Providers are rolling out new modules to keep pace with rapid developments, but experts say stronger employer support is needed to translate these skills into workplace capabilities. Olive Sham reports. Yes, somewhere From data analytics to digital marketing, this academy teaches people practical skills they need to weave artificial intelligence into their everyday tasks. In the past 6 months, it's seen twice the demand for its suite of courses as compared to last year. People are starting to see it as a general skill that can be applied in many industries and verticals.

And this is the reason why there's a lot of mainstream interest in AI courses because they just want to understand in a more structured way, right? Introduce to me what is this journey AI thing? What is the evolution of gen AI and where are we at now? But in an evolving AI-driven world, she says the need to refresh the curriculum is all the more crucial. It also plans to roll out new modules to meet different needs in the coming months. For example, for creatives, for designers, and you know, making use of the latest gen AI variant technologies that are coming out and to have more, I would say, industry-focused courses to help these people upskill and get better at everything they're doing. One other provider says the growing shift towards the next evolution of gen AI, called agentic AI, could be one factor fueling demand.

This new AI breed can complete tasks on its own or with little human supervision. If you think about it, that's you're learning how to run before you learn how to walk. So, if you before you move into the agentic hype, you must first know the basics of gen AI, you must know the basics of an LLM, right? Because you rely on the LLM to enable the agentic tasks that we are now seeing. Still, one analyst says while opportunities are plenty for people to pick up AI skills, there are gaps to be plugged. The gap actually is really after the course. Um, people may learn AI tools, but they are not always sure how to apply them in their own job. So, what would help more actually stronger employer involvement, for example, like uh, companies creating opportunities for staff to use AI in real workflows or uh, supporting small pilot projects.

She says that this is where such useful skills will turn into real capabilities in an AI-driven world we are learning to embrace and thrive in.
