AI is becoming a fixture in many aspects of our personal and business lives. But with growing concern about safety risks, how do we understand, create, and work alongside AI? CNA's Rani Zami Zamani was at AI Con in Singapore to find out more. >> AI in your home, AI to help you learn and work, and AI to entertain you. We're in the midst of a transition with physical AI and generative AI making progress faster than ever. AICON 2026 has brought together developers, industry leaders, policy makers, and academics to look at how AI can be developed for good. >> From a creative perspective, um we have never seen a technology so transformational. AI will take away the job but our our job or our mission is not to protect the job as per se but to protect the workers.
So as long as we come together as a community um you know that's why we hope to use AI con as an initiative to really rally and bring the community together to overcome the fear of the technology shift workshops on vibe coding AI film making using generative AI and storytelling and learning to build your very own creative agent. These are some of the ways AICON is bridging the gap between AI education and adoption. At the same time, it's trying to push the conversation forward on responsible AI, developing and deploying systems that deliver societal benefits while minimizing risks and harm. >> As with all powerful technology comes great responsibility.
Big tech leaders have issued warnings about the rising risks of AI, urging for regulation and global coordination to prepare for the likely harms of this technology to employment, safety, and well-being.
AI safety with the recent search in AI has always been a concern except a lot of people are unaware of it and therefore because of the hugging face incident with open AI that's why people are starting to pay attention leaders government leaders industry leaders have to voice out we need to do something about it in terms of regulation as well as policy our our focus is so that our people know how to protect themselves while they are harnessing the power of AI >> there's going to be people saying mandating we've got to get all countries involved agreeing to standards at least talking and agreeing to some kind of joint efforts or signaling systems so that if AI somehow does something rogue on one end other countries are made aware instantly and things like that.
The only thing with AI though the opportunities are so great um because it can literally work across every other organization to accelerate it and bring a lot of benefits. Organizers of AICON say AI literacy and fluency play a big role in ensuring that we are able to use the technology safely. They hope that balancing the opportunities and risks of AI will ensure that discussions on guardrails and regulation will translate into action so that the technology serves as a positive force in society.
