Governance & Regulation

AI governance frameworks, legislation, sectoral regulation and data protection — from the Model AI Governance Framework to the PDPA and industry rules.

Singapore’s approach to AI governance is principles-first and soft-law-led: rather than rush a single comprehensive AI statute, it relies on testable frameworks, guidance and sectoral rules. At the centre is the Model AI Governance Framework from IMDA and the AI Verify Foundation, extended in May 2024 with a version for generative AI, working alongside the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and PDPC enforcement, plus sector-specific rules in finance, healthcare and beyond.

This hub gathers every parliamentary debate on AI governance and regulation, the source frameworks and legislation, and regulators’ statements — from the recurring “should Singapore pass a dedicated AI law?” to data protection, algorithmic accountability and the division of labour across sectors, so you can trace how this “no hard statute, but a steadily tightening grip” logic takes shape.
