AMP
AMP (Accelerated Masters Programme) lets top undergraduates on the AI track earn an AI masters degree in 1 year (versus the standard 2). It is one of AISG's tools for keeping top undergraduates from leaking overseas.
📖 What it is
AMP's key design choices:
- Integrated bachelor's-master's track: students take selected master's courses early in their final undergraduate year
- Compressed to 1 year: the masters phase only takes 1 year (versus the usual 2)
- AISG funding: tuition subsidy + monthly stipend
- Hosted at partner universities: NUS / NTU, etc.
Positioning: lets undergrads who are "planning to do an AI masters" do it in Singapore in less time, rather than going abroad.
🤖 Relation to AI
AMP addresses "talent leakage between bachelor's and master's." Singapore's top undergraduates who want an AI masters often head to the US / UK / Australia — AMP keeps that cohort by being "faster, cheaper, and AISG-resourced."
🇸🇬 Relation to Singapore
AMP is another layer of the AISG talent funnel: undergrad → AMP (masters) → AIAP / industry / PhD Fellowship.
Across the seven transmission levers:
- Lever 2 (Talent): a retention channel from undergraduate to masters
Take: AMP isn't large in scale, but it complements the PhD Fellowship — the PhD programme retains those headed for research, AMP retains those headed for industry.
