Detail
The US$3bn NVIDIA partnership was announced at the September 2024 US-Korea summit, covering: (1) NVIDIA building AI data centres and joint labs in Korea; (2) joint R&D with Samsung / SK hynix on HBM; (3) priority allocation of next-gen H200 / B100 capacity to Korea; (4) NVIDIA AI education programmes deploying into Korean universities. Assessment: US$3bn is small for NVIDIA but strategically central for Korea — locking in next-gen compute supply. It is the Asian counterpart to UAE's Stargate partnership: Korea trades alignment for compute, while UAE trades capital for compute. Singapore has neither route, relying on private NVIDIA regional HQ rather than national-level partnership.
