Detail
The AI Ethics Principles, released in 2022, is the UAE's first formal AI ethics framework. It covers five principles: transparency, fairness, privacy, accountability, human-centric. Status: voluntary guidelines, no legal force. Assessment: the 2022 timing is 3 years behind Singapore's Model AI Governance Framework 1.0 (2019) and 2 years ahead of the EU AI Act (2024) — squarely in the middle of the second wave of AI-ethics governance. The 2024 AI Charter has since superseded / extended it, and there are few documented implementation cases of the standalone document.
