Detail
The AI Minister (Minister of State for AI) post was created by the UAE in 2017 — the world's first. The inaugural and current holder is Omar Sultan Al Olama (born 1990, age 27 at appointment). The full title became Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications in 2020 as the brief expanded into the digital economy and remote work. He reports directly to the Office of the President. Assessment: the AI Minister is not a standalone post — ATRC (Advanced Technology Research Council), the UAE AI Office, G42 / Mubadala provide the executing layer. The AI Minister's role is more "international face + cross-ministry coordinator" than policy-maker. Versus Singapore: UAE AI Minister = SNDGO minister + IMDA CEO merged, with looser authority boundaries.
