- Amount

- Region
- UAE
Detail
The Microsoft partnership was formally signed in April 2024 — a US$15.2bn package covering: (1) Microsoft's strategic equity investment in G42 (the UAE's flagship AI firm); (2) Microsoft building large-scale compute infrastructure in the UAE; (3) Azure deployment in the UAE; (4) G42 committing to Microsoft security and compliance standards (including limits on tech transfers to China). Assessment: this is the most geopolitically loaded line in the UAE's AI strategy — by accepting Microsoft investment, the UAE effectively aligned with the US camp in exchange for stable supply of advanced AI chips (NVIDIA H100 / B200). The cost is some pushback in parts of the Middle East market; the benefit is securing the next-gen AI compute entry ticket.
